Overcoming your fear of self-doubt

Honore de Balzac once said “When you doubt your power, you give power to your doubt.”

In our day to day life we face many challenges. Very often these challenges bring fear in our mind and can hold us back from achieving our goals. That goal can be anything – a change in our career path, unleashing our creative side, finding inner peace, a weight loss goal or overcoming depression.

Having a goal is the easy part. But overcoming our self-doubt and moving through our inner obstacles to reach that goal is what make us completely terrified. Sadly, most of us deal with our inner fear and doubt by overanalyzing it and resisting it as much as we can. We think we are too weak to handle it which hampers our journey towards self-acceptance.

But there are ways to turn your fear into fuel to the degree that you will reach your full potential and experience freedom to be yourself.

Overcoming your fear of self-doubt –

Fear and self-doubt plague us all. Whenever we set a goal, there is an inner voice that says…

“You can’t do it. You are not good enough for it. You will fail.”

This inner voice demolish your confidence, it criticizes you, strips down your logic and steals your happiness and inner peace.

The first step in overcoming your fear is to acknowledge it. No matter how much it scares you, you much acknowledge your fear and take ownership of your fear to keep it from holding you back.

Always remember that you are fearful or insecure simply because you are trying something new. Try to break your anxiety into smaller, more manageable pieces. Instead of directly focusing on the end result try scaling down your fear to a more manageable size. Slowly you will find yourself stepping out of your comfort zone and moving towards your goal.

Another important step is to forget what everyone else is thinking about you. If you care about what other people are thinking, you will do nothing and hold yourself back fearing criticism. Worrying about what other people will think only creates self-doubt in your mind which will stop you from doing something great for yourself. When uncertainty hits you, remind yourself of prior success and give full credit to yourself. It will instantly give you a boost.

It is also important to surround yourself with the right people. Keep those people around you who have a positive set of mind and who always encourage you.

When you are feeling overwhelmed, take a break. Sometimes we need to take time away from what we are doing and focus on something totally different. This shift will help us take a new perspective when we return to our goal.

People who are afraid to fail never move forward. The more you push yourself, the more you realize your capability. Sooner or later, you will learn to reverse the negative effects of self-doubt and use it to challenge your limitations.

Remember that we are humans..we falter…we hesitate..we feel pain BUT at the end nothing can stop us from achieving our goal.
